Subject: Help New U.S. Citizens Register to Vote on May 7th!
From: Operations Coordinator

2024 New Citizen2

Hello LWVBC Volunteers,

We need your help!

The LWVBC will be attending the Naturalization Ceremony at the Boulder Public Library on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, to show new citizens how to register to vote. Here are the details:

-We are looking for at least 12 volunteers to speak with new citizens at the conclusion of the ceremony. Thanks to those who have already signed up to help!

-If a volunteer wants to watch the entire ceremony, which is very uplifting, they should arrive by 12:45 p.m. to get a seat.  We have no way of knowing exactly what time the ceremony will conclude so volunteers not wanting to watch the ceremony should arrive outside the Canyon Theater by 1:45 p.m. so that they can speak with new citizens after the event.

-Everyone should review the steps for registering to vote using their iPhone by typing: coloradosos.gov and, under Elections, clicking on “Register to Vote.”  Volunteers will be showing new citizens how to register to vote on their own iPhones so it is important that everyone know the steps to do so on their own iPhone.

-There are approximately 30 new citizens being sworn in.  Many will want to leave with their families immediately after the ceremony.  However, we will endeavor to congratulate each new citizen and offer to show them how to quickly register to vote by using their iPhone.  Failing this, each new citizen will have a packet from the LWVBC that contains a congratulatory letter as well as a voter registration form and lots of voter information that they can review when they get home.

-All volunteers should wear a LWV badge or LWV nametag.

-Do plan to pay to park and pay the meter through 3:30 p.m. to avoid a parking ticket.
