Come on Down! HELP Wanted!
Do you like to work with volunteers or with local business folks, or help lead projects, or research for particular information, or help with planning and training, or work with new members, or write or speak publicly, or engage in strategic thinking, or work behind the scenes? If yes, then you are our person!
The Nominating Committee is looking for people to fill three positions:
1. We need a Fund Development Director, which is a Board position, meeting once per month in the evening virtually during the pandemic, and possibly beyond. This person would coordinate fundraising projects, many of which have already been established by our current director. This person would ensure all necessary details are organized, coordinating with and reporting to the Board, and particularly with our treasurer and Operations Director (Mandy Nuku) for logistics.
2. We also need a Membership Director (or coordinator, as your preference may be). As a director, you would serve on the Board, which meets once per month in the evening virtually during the pandemic, and possibly beyond. As a coordinator, you would also report to the Board, but would not need to attend Board meetings. The Membership Director/coordinator tabulates the data regarding members, helps at voter registration drives (VRD’s) as willing (we have gained members that way), organizes monthly member-and-friends virtual (for now) coffee dates with speakers on various topics (as decided), and other duties. You would also have an excellent team to work with you!
3. Finally, we need a Nominating Committee chairperson to replace me, Carolyn Elliott. After four years, someone else ought to have the pleasure of working with so many lovely people! Your job runs from mid-January at the earliest, through early April. You need 1) to determine what vacancies exist by asking Board and off-Board members who is staying and who is stepping down, and to write an article (like this one) for the March VOTER to solicit possible candidates, 2) to learn whom the Board members might suggest as more possible candidates, 3) to work with the Membership Director (or coordinator) to look through our database for more possible candidates, 4) to make phone calls to the possible candidates with the help of Board members calling too, and 5) to set the slate of candidates to present to the Board members for their approval, and to write an article for the April VOTER with the slate. Then, at the annual meeting in May, you present the slate of candidates for a vote. That’s it! It’s a lot of fun getting to know more people in our brilliant organization!
